Disparities predict for higher rates of cut-through hysterectomies in locally advanced cervical cancer
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Jan 08, 2019
Amini A, et al. - Researchers assessed 11,638 adults to evaluate the factors associated with cut-through hysterectomies and also to estimate the overall survival (OS) results in locally advanced cervical cancer. According to findings, there was greater inclination for cut-through hysterectomies among individuals of African American race, older age, government insurance, and those treated at community practices. They recorded a worse 5-year OS for those who underwent cut-through resections vs those with negative margins, 66.0% vs 86.7%, respectively, and found variations in surgical outcomes for females with cervical cancer.
