Bryniarski KL, et al. - In a study sample of patients with and without peripheral arterial disease (PAD), researchers compared the detailed characteristics of culprit and nonculprit plaques between both groups of patients, using optical coherence tomography. In patients with PAD, a greater coronary plaque vulnerability was observed in both culprit and nonculprit lesions. Therefore, the need for more aggressive risk management in patients with combined PAD and coronary artery disease was emphasized.
