Diagnostic value of targeted next-generation sequencing in patients with suspected pancreatic or periampullary cancer

Mulder BGS, et al. – This paper incorporated the defining of the diagnostic value of targeted next–generation sequencing (NGS) of DNA from cytology material, in patients with suspected pancreatic or periampullary cancer. The findings brought to light the fact that NGS could alter the treatment plan in a considerable portion of patients with suspect pancreatic or periampullary lesions. The NGS application could optimise the therapeutic selection and diminish unwarranted surgeries.
