Diagnostic value of CA-153 and CYFRA 21-1 in predicting intraocular metastasis in patients with metastatic lung cancer
Cancer Medicine Feb 23, 2020
Lin Q, Chen XY, Liu WF, et al. - Researchers analyzed a sample of 1,608 patients suffering from lung cancer who had metastasis to at least one site, to determine clinical disparities between those with intraocular metastasis (IOM) and non-IOM (NIOM). In terms of age, gender, and pathological type, no significant differences were evident between the IOM and NIOM groups. However, higher levels of alpha-fetoprotein, carcinoembryonic antigen, cancer antigen (CA)-125, CA-153, cytokeratin fragment 19 (CYFRA 21-1), and total prostate-specific antigen were detected in the IOM group vs the NIOM group. According to the findings, among patients with metastatic lung cancer (MLC), the independent risk for IOM was conferred by both CA-153 and CYFRA 21-1, whereas the combination of CA-153 and CYFRA 21-1 evaluation was most valuable in the identification of IOM in patients with MLC.
