Depression score changes in response to sleep disordered breathing treatment with positive airway pressure in a large clinic-based cohort
Sleep and Breathing Feb 02, 2018
Relia S, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, researchers tested the hypothesis that depressive symptoms in sleep disordered breathing (SDB) improve in response to positive airway pressure (PAP) treatment in a large clinical setting, and that lower socio-economic status poses barriers to full therapeutic response. They found that depressive symptom severity improved in association with PAP therapy and adherence. Additionally, less therapeutic benefit was observed in patients with lower socioeconomic status, suggesting that they faced additional barriers to treatment effectiveness.
