Deep brain stimulation for drug-resistant epilepsy

Epilepsia Dec 13, 2017

Li MCH, et al. - The authors performed this study to evaluate clinical evidence on the antiepileptic effects of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for drug-resistant epilepsy, its safety, and the factors influencing individual outcomes. Several patients, disease, and stimulation factors were identified that potentially predicted seizure outcome following DBS. To explore different stimulation parameters, reevaluate the indications for DBS, and identify robust predictors of patient response, more large-scale clinical trials were required.
