Decreasing length of hospital stay and postoperative complications after primary total hip arthroplasty: A decade analysis from 2006 to 2016
Journal of Arthroplasty Nov 16, 2018
Grosso MJ, et al. - Authors evaluated the trends in length of hospital stay (LOS) and complications following total hip arthroplasty (THA) over a ten-year period. They compared the differences in LOS, operative time, readmission rates, and 30-day postoperative medical complications using bivariate and multivariate analysis. They noted a decrease in LOS and an improvement in short-term complication profile for THA over the last decade. An importance of these changes to help mitigate the costs of higher volume with continually increasing rates of utilization of THA along broader patient demographics was noted.
