Cytochrome c in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting: A post hoc analysis of a randomized trial

Journal of Critical Care Aug 12, 2017

Andersen LW, et al. – This study was performed in patients undergoing cardiac surgery to investigate if plasma cytochrome c is detectable among these subjects and, to assess the prognostic value of cytochrome c levels and association with lactate/inflammatory markers/cellular oxygen consumption. Findings demonstrated no increase in cytochrome c levels post–cardiac surgery. Data also revealed that cytochrome c levels were not related to the degree of inflammation or clinical outcomes.
