Covariables and types of abnormal left ventricular geometry in nonelderly ischemic stroke survivors: The Norwegian Stroke in the Young Study
Journal of Hypertension Sep 13, 2018
Linde A, et al. - In younger ischemic stroke patients, experts assessed the prevalence and covariables of abnormal left ventricular (LV) geometry types. Abnormal LV geometry, found in 37% of these patients, was common in ischemic stroke survivors less than 60 years of age. Findings suggested a probable contribution of the presence of abnormal LV geometry to the known increased risk of recurrent cardiovascular events in ischemic stroke survivors. In multivariable logistic regression analyses, they noted an association of LV hypertrophy with increased pulse wave velocity, higher BMI and creatinine, and presence of diabetes and hypertension, while concentric remodeling was related to higher mean carotid intima–media thickness independent of age.
