Correlation between the length of ovarian ligament and ovarian torsion: A prospective study
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation Aug 08, 2018
Tamir Yaniv R, et al. - Association between the ovarian ligament length and ovarian torsion was investigated in this prospective cohort study conducted in the gynecology department of a university affiliated hospital. The length of the ovarian ligaments was measured during laparoscopy among a total of 56 recruited women. Of these, 28 women were operated for ovarian torsion (torsion group) and 28 others for other gynecologic conditions (control group). Findings suggest that there could be a correlation between increased length of the ovarian ligament and the development of ovarian torsion. This might underlie ovarian ligament fixation or oophoropexy at the time of conservative surgery for ovarian torsion.
