Correlates of physical activity among depressed older people in six low-income and middle-income countries: A community-based cross-sectional study
International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry Oct 13, 2017
Vancampfort D, et al. - This community-based cross-sectional study was performed to examine what factors influenced physical activity (PA) participation among community-dwelling older adults (aged ≥65 years) with depression in 6 low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs). Across LMICs, the current data gave guidance for future interventions to assist older people with depression to engage in regular PA. While from a clinical perspective, somatic co-morbidities, MCI, pain, and slow gait needed to be considered, the promotion of social cohesion could increase the efficacy of future public health initiatives.
