Contralesional brain activity in acute ischemic stroke

Cerebrovascular Diseases Mar 15, 2018

Van Kaam RC, et al. - An estimation was conducted of the value of conventional electroencephalography (EEG) recordings with the intention of detecting contralateral hemisphere involvement associated with functional recovery in patients with acute hemispheric ischemic stroke. Robust changes of brain activity and functional connectivity were illustrated via short conventional EEG measurements in both ipsilateral and contralateral hemispheres of individuals with acute ischemic stroke. It was observed that changes of remote functional connectivity exhibited a tendency of interacting with the functional recovery.
