Conservative treatment of children with chronic diffuse sclerosing osteomyelitis/tendoperiostitis of the mandible

Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Oct 07, 2017

van de Meent MM, et al. - The proposition inspected here was that the overuse of the masticatory muscles, tendoperiostitis (TP), served as a contributing factor for diffuse sclerosing osteomyelitis (DSO). A decrease was reported in the pain complaints of patients with DSO/TP with conservative therapy. It was illustrated that 55% of the patients did not require additional therapy. This was indicative of DSO/TP of the mandible being precipitated by muscle overuse.
