Concurrence of gastric cancer and incidental pulmonary embolism may be a prognostic factor for advanced gastric cancer patients with incidental pulmonary embolism
Cancer Management and Research Oct 07, 2021
Qiu M, Meng Y, Wang H, et al. - Concurrence of gastric cancer and incidental pulmonary embolism (IPE) seemed to have prognostic value for advanced gastric cancer patients with IPE.
Among 90 patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma complicated with IPE, 19 were diagnosed with IPE concomitantly with gastric cancer.
After adjusting for age and gender, the survival of advanced gastric cancer patients with IPE appeared to be independently influenced by the concurrence of gastric cancer and IPE, lack of anticoagulation, and central IPE.
In subgroup analysis of patients with peripheral pulmonary embolisms, anticoagulant therapy was confirmed to have survival benefit.
