Complications and interventions in patients with artificial urinary sphincters: Long-term results
The Journal of Urology Jun 27, 2018
Radomski SB, et al. - Long-term rates of artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) revision/removal, reimplantation and associated risk factors were investigated via conducting a population-based, retrospective study using the Ontario Health Insurance Plan data base of all male patients who underwent AUS implantation from 1994-2013. Outcomes revealed that at 10 years following insertion, most men who undergo AUS placement still have a device, without repeat surgeries. No increase in the risk of repeat surgeries was noted with radiotherapy. Increased risk of removal/revision was observed in association with a high level of comorbidity.
