Comparison of fit of dentures fabricated by traditional techniques vs CAD/CAM technology
Journal of Prosthodontics Nov 19, 2017
McLaughlin JB, et al. - The experts undertook this study to compare the shrinkage of denture bases fabricated by 3 methods: CAD/CAM, compression molding, and injection molding. In addition, they examined the effect of arch form and palate depth. Equally well-fitting dentures were produced by injection molding and CAD/CAM fabrication methods, with both having a better fit than compression molding. Compared to medium or deep palates, shallow palates appeared to be more affected by shrinkage. Compared to CAD/CAM and compression molding, shallow ovoid arch forms seemed to benefit from the use of injection molding.
