Andrologia Jul 08, 2019

Song Y, et al. - Through appropriate studies that were collected and reviewed systemically from PubMed, Medline, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases and the Cochrane Library in order to and a meta-analysis was conducted by the researchers in order to determine the semen parameters, complications and clinical outcome of microsurgical varicocelectomy with testicular delivery (TD) for treatment of varicocele. A total of8 articles and 1,139 subjects including 487 patients with TD in microsurgical varicocelectomy and 652 patients without TD were recruited by the experts. In comparison to microsurgical varicocelectomy without TD, the microsurgical varicocelectomy with TD raised the incidence of orchiepididymitis and scrotal edema, postoperatively, as shown by the pooled relative ratio (RR). Hence, in contrast to microsurgical varicocelectomy without TD, TD to further ligate the gubernacular veins in microsurgical varicocelectomy ended up in a greater incidence of orchiepididymitis and scrotal edema and took more prolonged operation time. Although on semen parameters, serum testosterone, varicocele occurrence, wound infection and natural conception, TD might not have any advantageous impacts.
