Combined effects of diabetes and low household income on mortality: A 12-year follow-up study of 505,677 Korean adults
Diabetic Medicine Jun 23, 2018
Shin WY, et al. - Using data from the National Health Insurance Service-National Health Screening (NHIS-HEALS) cohort study, the researchers investigated the effects of diabetes, low income and the combination of the two on mortality in the Korean population. This study was conducted on 505,677 people (53.9% male) aged 40–79 years old. Findings revealed that low household income, as well as the presence of diabetes independently raise the risk of mortality. However, their combined effects on mortality could be different between men and women.
