Colonoscopic full-thickness resection using an over-the-scope device: A prospective multicentre study in various indications

Gut Aug 22, 2017

Schmidt A, et al. – This prospective multicentre study intended to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the full–thickness resection device. The physicians revealed that endoscopic full–thickness resection (EFTR) had a reasonable technical efficacy, particularly in lesions ≤2 cm with acceptable complication rates. For early cancers, curative resection rate was too low to recommend its primary use in this indication. Further comparative studies had to indicate the clinical value and long–term outcome of EFTR in benign colorectal lesions.
