Coated expandable metal stents are effective irrespective of airway pathology

Menna C, et al. - Patients who underwent placement of recent generation, fully covered, self-expanding metallic stents (SEMS) for tracheobronchial stenosis (TBS) and postoperative bronchopleural fistulas (POBPF) were assessed for outcomes following the stent placement and stent efficacy relative to airway pathology. Findings demonstrated the efficacy of fully covered SEMS and declared these as a versatile treatment option for patients with inoperable TBS and POBPF.
