Clinical manifestations, imaging features, and endoscopic management of renal pseudocysts: A case series
Annals of Gastroenterology May 14, 2020
Rana SS, Dawra S, Sharma R, et al. - Researchers describe the pertinent clinico-radiological characteristics as well as the role of endoscopic drainage in symptomatic renal pseudocysts (RP) by analyzing a case series in this retrospective study. Patients having RP examined in experts' unit over the last 12 years were included. Overall 8 patients (7 male; mean age: 33.1 years) were examined. Underlying chronic pancreatitis (calcific in 3), mainly alcohol-related, was present in 7 patients. The mean size of the RP was 8.5 cm. Both contrast-enhanced computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) could afford a good identification of RP. No cases had significant debris on EUS. RP were usually shown to be related to abdominal pain and did not result in renal symptoms. Findings revealed the safety as well as the effectiveness of endoscopic drainage as a minimally invasive treatment choice for RP.
