Clinical examination for acute aortic dissection: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Academic Emergency Medicine Evidence based | Dec 22, 2017

Ohle R, et al. - In view of the fact that acute aortic dissection is a life-threatening condition, researchers performed this systematic review and meta-analysis focusing on clinical examination for acute aortic dissection. As per findings, they suggest suspecting acute aortic dissection with hypotension, pulse or neurological deficit. Conversely, a low American heart association (AHA) aortic dissection detection (ADD) score decreases suspicion. For acute aortic dissection, clinical picture informed by high and low risk features together with an absence of an alternative diagnosis should guide the investigation.
