Clinical evidence of prevention strategies for capecitabine-induced hand-foot syndrome

Huang XZ, et al. - Hand-foot syndrome (HFS) is the most common adverse effect of capecitabine-containing chemotherapy. Various prevention and treatment strategies for capecitabine-induced HFS were contemplated herein. Potential prophylactic efficacy of celecoxib for capecitabine-induced HFS was suggested. However, pyridoxine and topical urea/lactic acid were not found to be associated with a decrease in the incidence of capecitabine-induced HFS.
