Clinical, endoscopic and histological differentiation between celiac disease and tropical sprue: A systematic review
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Aug 11, 2018
Sharma P, et al. - Researchers searched Medline, PubMed, and EMBASE databases for keywords celiac disease (CD), coeliac, celiac, tropical sprue (TS), sprue, clinical presentation, endoscopy, and histology to find differentiating clinical, endoscopic and histological features between CD and TS. They reviewed studies published between August 1960 and January 2018 for this analysis. Data from this systematic review indicate that both patients with CD and TS had overlapping clinical, endoscopic and histological features, and there is no single diagnostic characteristic for differentiating CD from TS, except for celiac specific serological tests.
