Clinical diagnostic value of simultaneous amplification and testing for the diagnosis of sputum-scarce pulmonary tuberculosis

Yan L, et al. – Researchers here analyzed the usefulness of the AmpSure simultaneous amplification and testing method for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (SAT–TB assay) in sputum–scarce patients. They recognized SAT–TB assay as highly accurate. In these patients, positive SAT–TB results thus established the presence of active pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), and anti–TB treatment was strongly recommended regardless of smear and culture test results.
