Clinical and radiographic peri-implant outcomes of short dental implants placed in posterior jaws of patients with treated generalized aggressive periodontitis: A 3-year follow-up study
Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research Apr 17, 2019
Akram Z, et al. - In this 3-year follow-up study, authors investigated the clinical peri-implant and radiographic bone status around short dental implants (SDIs) placed in partially edentulous cases treated for generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) and periodontally healthy subjects and also to evaluate the implant success rate between both the groups. Significantly higher bleeding on probing (BOP) and clinical attachment level (CAL) around SDIs of GAgP cases were recorded when compared to periodontally healthy candidates throughout the follow-up. They also noted significantly greater CAL around the teeth of GAgP individuals during the follow-up vs around the teeth of periodontal healthy subjects. Significantly increased attachment loss was exhibited in implants as compared to teeth. They implied SDIs functionally stable in the posterior jaws of treated GAgP cases.
