Clinical and electrophysiological correlates of incessant ivabradine-sensitive atrial tachycardia
Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Aug 02, 2019
Banavalikar B, Shenthar J, Padmanabhan D, et al. - In this study including patients with incessant focal atrial tachycardia (FAT) (lasting > 24 hours) and structurally normal hearts, a systematic assessment of ivabradine's efficacy as a treatment option for FAT was done by researchers, including cases with ventricular dysfunction as a result of FAT. They asked patients to stop taking all antiarrhythmic drugs at least 5 half-lives prior to the initiation of ivabradine. In patients without structural heart disease, 64% of incessant FAT was attributed to ivabradine-sensitive atrial tachycardia. The likelihood of responding to ivabradine was higher for incessant FAT originating in the atrial appendages vs that originating from other atrial sites.
