Clinical accuracy of six intraocular lens power calculation formulas in elongated eyes, according to anterior chamber depth
American Journal of Ophthalmology Jul 29, 2021
Mo E, Lin L, Wang J, et al. - In this retrospective case series study, researchers sought to examine the influence of anterior chamber depth (ACD) on the accuracy of the Kane, EVO 2.0, Barrett Universal II (BU II), Olsen, SRK/T, and Haigis formula in patients with elongated eyes. In total, 106 patients (106 eyes) diagnosed with high myopia (axial length ≥ 26 mm) were recruited and divided into three subgroups according to preoperative ACD. Overall, the Kane and EVO 2.0 formulas were the most accurate. For patients with shallow ACD, the EVO 2.0 and BU II formulas are recommended; for patients with deep ACD, the Kane formula is recommended (especially patients with extremely elongated eyes). SRK/T and Haigis formulas should be avoided to the greatest extent possible.
