Classification of facial peri-implant soft tissue dehiscences/ deficiencies at single implant sites in the esthetic zone
Journal of Periodontology May 21, 2019
Zucchelli G, et al. - A classification of peri-implant peri-implant soft tissue dehiscence/deficiency (PSTD) at a single implant site was presented in this article. Based on the position of the gingival margin of the implant-supported crown in relation to the homologous natural tooth, researchers discussed 4 classes of PSTDs. They also considered the bucco-lingual position of the implant head. Based on the height of the anatomical papillae, further subdivision of each class was done. Subsequently, they also suggested the appropriate recommended treatment protocol for each respective category (including bilaminar techniques, the combined prosthetic-surgical approach or soft tissue augmentation with a submerged healing).
