Circulating tumor necrosis factor-α levels in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A systematic review and a meta-analysis

Potoupni V, Georgiadou M, Chatzigriva E, et al. - Higher circulating tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α concentrations were detected in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) vs controls. In addition, an association was found between higher levels of circulating TNF-α and the severity of NAFLD.

  • PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library were systematically explored.

  • Analysis involved 56 studies, published between 2003 and 2019.

  • A total of 5848 individuals, including 1634 controls and 4214 NAFLD patients, were included.
