Changes in silver diamine fluoride use and dental care costs: A longitudinal study

Hansen R, et al. - Using claims, researchers conducted a population-level retrospective cohort analysis (N equals 117,599) to assess the impact of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) by examining coverage and reimbursement policies. Data reported that average per-patient quarterly dental costs ranged from $384 to $423. Findings suggested that the results can be used by policymakers to improve access and reduce costs. When SDF substitutes for or is used in conjunction with restorative treatment, clinical experts should address more clearly.
