Changes in pulmonary artery systolic pressure and right ventricular function in patients with end-stage renal disease on maintenance dialysis

Nephrology Jul 02, 2018

Santosh S, et al. - In patients on maintenance dialysis, changes in pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) and right ventricular function over time were estimated. Researchers also sought to predict PASP change via clinical variables normally accessible at time of initial measurement in these patients. Retrospective study of patients with end-stage renal disease who had two separate echocardiograms 1-4 years apart was done at a university-affiliated dialysis center. Patients with end-stage renal disease displayed an increase in PASP over time, and changes were moderately predictable. Development of right ventricular dysfunction was predicted by higher PASP.
