Changes in plaque and gingivitis levels after tooth bleaching: A systematic review
International Journal of Dental Hygiene Feb 15, 2019
Sanz-Sanchez I, et al. - In this study, the authors estimated 382 individuals without periodontitis of age ≥18 years to examine the impact of external tooth-bleaching products vs placebo or a negative control on plaque indices. They used the following two electronic databases as sources in the search for studies to satisfy the inclusion criteria: The National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE via PubMed), and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. They found higher reductions in plaque and gingivitis indices with the use of bleaching products when compared to a control group. But, this reduction in plaque and gingivitis indices was only for a short duration.
