Changes in glomerular filtration rate and impact on long-term survival among adults after hematopoietic cell transplantation: A prospective cohort study
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Apr 26, 2018
Hingorani S, et al. - Researchers explored the link between changes in GFR and all-cause mortality in patients up to 10 years after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) in a prospective, observational cohort study. Adult patients who underwent HCT at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington from 2003 to 2015, were included. The link between creatinine eGFR and all-cause mortality was studied using Cox proportional hazard models and time-dependent generalized estimating equations were used to determine risk factors for decreases in eGFR. By 1 year post-HCT, a high risk of decreased eGFR was noted, followed by continuously fairly stable eGFR. A decreased eGFR was shown to be significantly related to higher risk of mortality, with a progressively increased risk as eGFR declined.
