Carotid intima-media thickness and plagues are associated with indicators of peripheral artery diseases in patients with diabetes

Zhang Y, et al. - This cross-sectional analysis of 6,688 adult Chinese study participants from a well-defined community examined the associations of carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and carotid plaque with ankle-brachial index (ABI) and toe-brachial index (TBI). In non-diabetic participants, no associations between CIMT or carotid plaque morphology and TBI or ABI were observed. In patients with diabetes, CIMT and carotid plaque morphology were significantly related to TBI.
