Caries experience and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy in a low-resource setting
BMC Oral Health Jan 18, 2019
Akhter R, et al. - In this study, a sum of 90 children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP) (median age 10 years) selected from the Bangladesh Cerebral Palsy Register (BCPR) were assessed to analyze the correlation between dental caries experience and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among kids and adolescents. They observed high incidence of dental caries (56%) with a negative influence on OHRQoL among the candidates and their parents/caregivers. Dental caries experience was significantly noticed in association with those who had teeth/mouth pain, food caught between teeth, difficulty in eating and drinking and those who felt frequently upset. Hence, they recommended oral health promotion programs to enhance the quality of life.
