Cardiac function in pediatric patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 21 hydroxylase deficiency

Clinical Endocrinology Dec 21, 2017

Mooij CF, et al. - During this study, cardiac function was evaluated in pediatric patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). Findings revealed that cardiac evaluation of pediatric patients with CAH indicated no signs of left ventricular hypertrophy or ventricular dilatation. In patients with CAH, left ventricular posterior wall thickness in diastole (LVPWd) was lower than in controls but within the normal range. Among patients with CAH, a shorter isovolumetric relaxation time could be a sign of mild left ventricular diastolic dysfunction.
