Pikkemaat M, et al. - In 398 participants (aged < 65 years) with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes, researchers examined the correlation between baseline level of C-peptide and all-cause death, cardiovascular death, and cardiovascular complications. They used Cox regression analysis to evaluate the link between baseline C-peptide and results with adjustment for multiple confounders. In people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes, elevated baseline C-peptide levels were related to an increased risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Findings suggested that C-peptide could be used to identify high-risk people with cardiovascular complications and premature death.
