Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity could be a predictor of mortality in patients on peritoneal dialysis
Peritoneal Dialysis International Jun 05, 2018
Wang LL, et al. - In this single-center retrospective cohort study, researchers assessed the link between baseline brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (PWV) (baPWV) levels and total mortality in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients by using multivariable-adjusted Cox models. Sensitivity analyses revealed the highest adjusted risk for total death in individuals with baPWV > 21.0 m/s. Higher baseline baPWV levels at the commencement of PD were found to be independently related to total mortality. This finding suggests that clinicians could use baPWV as a predictor of higher risk of mortality in PD patients.
