Larger declines in mean arterial pressure were correlated with higher incidence of kidney function decline in the intensive treatment group of Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). When a larger reduction in mean arterial pressure was needed to attain the BP target, intensive treatment appeared to be less favorable.
