Magrico R, et al. - The association between mean arterial pressure reduction, kidney function decline, and cardiovascular events were evaluated in patients without CKD. Larger declines in mean arterial pressure were correlated with higher incidence of kidney function decline in the intensive treatment group of Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). When a larger reduction in mean arterial pressure was needed to attain the BP target, intensive treatment appeared to be less favorable.
