Surgery Mar 05, 2021

Kwak MS, Eun YG, Lee YC, et al. - Researchers aimed at determining the survival benefit of postoperative radiotherapy in patients with resected human papilloma virus-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database, they identified data of 2,589 human papilloma virus-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma patients who underwent surgery. To balance the baseline characteristics between patients who received postoperative radiotherapy and those who did not, they conducted propensity score matching. Human papilloma virus-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma patients with advanced N stage might have improvement in survival after receiving postoperative radiotherapy.
