Attrition of rotator cuff without progression to tears during 2–5 years of conservative treatment for impingement syndrome
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery Nov 15, 2018
Yoon TH, et al. - Experts gauged the natural history of intact rotator cuff in impingement syndrome patients with concomitant spur protruding from the undersurface of acromion. During 2–5 years of conservative treatment, rotator cuff tears were not led by spurs protruding from the acromial undersurface. Nonetheless, during arthroscopic acromioplasty, attrition of the rotator cuff was noted, thereby suggesting that the protruding spurs caused extrinsic impingement of the cuff. At the final follow-up, satisfactory outcomes were demonstrated by the pain level and shoulder function, including the range of motion (ROM).
