Atrial fibrillation and risk of major arrhythmic events in Brugada syndrome: A meta-analysis
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Aug 01, 2019
Kewcharoen J, Rattanawong P, Kanitsoraphan C, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis involving 1,703 patients, researchers analyzed the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) on major arrhythmic events (MAE) in Brugada syndrome (BrS) [a common cause of sudden cardiac death] population via searching the databases of MEDLINE and EMBASE from inception to March 2019. Published cohort studies reporting rates of MAE (ventricular fibrillation, sustained ventricular tachycardia, sudden cardiac death, or sudden cardiac arrest) in BrS patients, with and without previous documented AF, were included. In patients with BrS, AF is linked to an increased risk of MAE.
