Asymmetric expression of GPR126 in the convex/concave side of the spine is associated with spinal skeletal malformation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis population
European Spine Journal May 19, 2019
Xu E, et al. - For the establishment of an association between bone formation-related functions of GPR126 and the structural asymmetry of the spine, investigators conducted a study in patients suffering from adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). An aggregate of 51 AIS patients was included in this study, and samples of their vertebral bodies were taken out. The identification of expression pattern of GPR126 in the convex/concave sides of AIS spine was evaluated by RT-qPCR. GPR126-NTFs had shown an important role in skeletal development also the bone formation-related functions of GPR126 might be controlled by the inclusion/exclusion of exon6. In the formation of the abnormal bone of AIS, the convex/concave asymmetric expression of GPR126-exon6in might be a considerable factor.
