Asymmetric dental arch treatment with Forsus fatigue appliances: Long-term results
The Angle Orthodontist Apr 05, 2019
Akın M, et al. - Researchers evaluated the longitudinal changes in dental arch asymmetry on digital dental models to assess the effectiveness of treatment and follow-up stability of the asymmetric Forsus appliance. They observed an increase in the alveolar transverse dimensions of the posterior segment of both arches during treatment which remained stable during the retention period. They found the occurrence of Class II subdivision malocclusion by distal positioning of the premolars, mandibular canine, and first molar on the Class II side. They noted the resolution of asymmetry by treatment with asymmetric Forsus appliances which remained stable over the long period of time. They conclusively preferred the asymmetric Forsus appliance to manage dental arch asymmetry in Class II subdivision malocclusions cases.
