Associations between circulating full-length angiopoietin-like protein 8 levels and severity of coronary artery disease in Chinese non-diabetic patients: A case–control study
Cardiovascular Diabetology Jul 02, 2018
Jiao X, et al. - Researchers assessed the link between angiopoietin-like protein 8 (ANGPTL8; a hormone involved in regulating lipid metabolism) levels and severity of CAD by evaluating full-length circulating ANGPTL8 levels in Chinese non-diabetic patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) against controls. Among these individuals, patients with CAD vs controls were found to have significantly increased levels of circulating ANGPTL8. They identified circulating full-length ANGPTL8 levels as an independent risk factor for CAD. Also, a positive association of circulating full-length ANGPTL8 levels with the severity of CAD was observed.
