Association of serum magnesium with all-cause mortality in patients with and without chronic kidney disease in the Dallas Heart Study
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Nov 10, 2017
Ferre S, et al. - Low serum magnesium (SMg) has been linked to increased mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the general population. In the multiethnic Dallas Heart Study (DHS) cohort, researchers investigated if this link was similar in participants with vs without prevalent chronic kidney disease (CKD). Findings demonstrated an independent association of low SMg levels (1.4Â1.9 mg/dL; 0.58Â0.78 mM) with all-cause mortality in patients with prevalent CKD in the DHS cohort.
