Association of prevalence of electronic cigarette use with smoking cessation and cigarette consumption in England: A time–series analysis between 2007 and 2017
Addiction Dec 11, 2019
Beard E, et al. - In this time–series analysis of population trends in England, data were collected on nearly 1,200 past-year smokers each quarter (total n = 50,498) between 2007 and 2017 in order to give up-to-date estimates of how variances in the predominance of electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use in England had been related to variations in activities for cessation of smoking and daily cigarette smoking among smokers in England. No clear evidence was discovered for a relationship between e-cigarette use and either the predominance of quit attempt or cigarette smoking. In summary, alterations in the predominance of e-cigarette use in England have been positively correlated with the overall quit and quit success rates although it is not clearly related to the prevalence of quit attempts and mean cigarette smoking.
