Association of ocular blood flow and contrast sensitivity in normal tension glaucoma
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology May 28, 2021
Kuerten D, Fuest M, Walter P, et al. - In this mono-center comparative prospective trial, researchers sought to explore the association of ocular blood flow (via arteriovenous passage time) and contrast sensitivity in healthy as well as normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) individuals. Twenty-five NTG patients who were not taking medication, as well as 25 healthy test participants, were recruited. In NTG patients, changes in retinal blood flow are associated with a loss of contrast sensitivity. This could indicate a disease-related relationship between retinal blood flow and visual function.
