Association of metabolic syndrome with sudden sensorineural hearing loss

Jung SY, et al. - In order to assess the relationship of metabolic syndrome with the rate of recovery from sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) this trial was conducted. Among patients with metabolic syndrome, the rate of recovery from SSNHL was lower as compared to those without metabolic syndrome. A poorer prognosis was noted in cases with 4 or more diagnostic factors of the metabolic syndrome.
